KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 1): The Employees Provident Fund promoted Mohamad Hafiz Kassim as its new chief investment officer and named Ahmad Rizal Omar as its chief financial officer.
Both appointments took effect on Monday, the pension fund also known as EPF said in a statement. Mohamad Hafiz was the EPF’s chief financial officer before the latest appointment, and his post is being taken up by Ahmad Rizal, the former finance department head.
“Mohamad Hafiz brings a wealth of experience, steady leadership, and a strong understanding of the EPF’s long-term investment philosophy,” said EPF chief executive officer Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn. “His background in both investment and finance makes him the ideal individual to lead this critical portfolio.”
Mohamad Hafiz succeeds Rohaya Mohammad Yusof, who has led the fund’s investment division for the past five years.
Trained in accounting and finance, Mohamad Hafiz has been with the EPF since 2008 and has held senior leadership roles across private equity, private market, capital market, and real estate portfolios.
Ahmad Rizal, meanwhile, is a chartered accountant with over two decades of experience. Before joining the EPF, he served as chief financial officer at PLUS Malaysia Bhd and held senior roles at Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, and Axiata Group Bhd.
“His proven leadership and financial acumen will continue to strengthen the EPF’s financial management and governance,” Ahmad Zulqarnain said.
He also thanked Rohaya for her service over the past 17 years.
